House Passes National Flood Insurance Program Long-term Reauthorization

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Flood Insurance Reform Priorities Act of 2010, a long-term reauthorization and reform of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), extending the program through FY 2015. However, no Senate action is expected this year, which means the NFIP is still set to expire on September 30. The Hamilton Insurance Group and Nationwide Insurance is supportive of most of the provisions, except for an amendment that would essentially eliminate anti-concurrent causation clauses in homeowner policies or companies servicing NFIP flood policies in the Write Your Own (WYO) program.
