Kentucky Legal Climate
Doug Alexander, reporting for the Partnership for Commonsense Justice, cites a new study that shows the Commonwealth's legal climate is among the worst in the nation. The business legal group notes that the U.S. Tort Liability Index: 2010 Report placed Kentucky 36th among the states. In March, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Legal Affairs ranked Kentucky 40th among the states in a similar survey of in-house corporate counsel who participate in the site-selection process. Low rankings in these reports can be a significant barrier to Kentucky's ability to create new jobs and investment.
